links as interval matching sets..?

if x
if y
if –
if (x) — (y)
if (y) — (x)
if (x) —— (y)
when and how x + y might link is interval based, no?

lets put all 3? (top to bottom for now)
{if (x2y — yx —- y)}

if —
if —-
if — x
if — y

(from bottom)

if yx
if –2-yx

How x and y link is based on the intervals in the sequence. eg if -x and if -y where x y are on the same interval spot in the sequence – then they will bang head-on, etc..
